Toka Abu Jaib is a First Officer at PAL Airlines and a graduate of the University of Alberta (B.Sc., 2018). Her path to aviation was anything but conventional. At 25, after a spark was ignited on a discovery flight, she took a leap of faith and switched careers to become a pilot.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including completing her flight training and licenses during the COVID-19 pandemic and across three different provinces and flight schools, she embraced the journey with resilience and determination, never looking back.
Beyond the flight deck, Toka is deeply committed to promoting diversity and empowering women in aviation. As Vice President of the Northern Lights Aero Foundation Junior Board of Directors, she works to create opportunities for young women to thrive in the aviation industry.
Her dedication to giving back is evident through her volunteer work with organizations that support women and diversity in aviation.
Outside of flying, Toka is an avid traveler and adventurer. Exploring new countries and cultures inspires her, and she enjoys hiking and immersing herself in nature whenever possible. She believes in living a life full of exploration—whether it’s traveling, learning, or challenging herself to grow.
Driven by ambition and a commitment to her goals, Toka is on a mission to inspire others,
particularly women and underrepresented groups, to pursue their dreams. She believes there are no limits to what can be achieved when we dare to soar. The sky is not the limit—the sky is just the beginning.
